BOSCO FIESTA 2024

Bosco Fiesta 2024, heldon August 16 and 17, 2024 was a resounding success, bringing together students,teachers, and the wider community to celebrate diverse cultural expressions.This two-day event showcased a vibrant array of performances and activities,including Mime, Western dance and Rangoli on Day 1; Indian folk dance and
Western music on Day 2. Each event reflected the creativity, talent, andcultural richness of the participants, making Fiesta a memorable experience for
all. Spearheaded by Rev. Fr. Sujith Augustine, Principal, Don Bosco School,Alaknanda, the event conformed in every way to St. John Bosco’s vision for the
youth.
In his inaugural address, thePrincipal reminded everyone about St. John Bosco, the ‘Father and Teacher ofYouth’ and his enthusiasm and dedication in guiding the youth. He inspired thespirit of brotherhood and healthy competition in the young participants,underlining the essence of Fiesta as more of celebration rather than
competition. 

Twenty-four schools participated in this cultural spectacle, entertaining and enthralling each one in the audience with their astounding talents and fascinating performances. Displaying their forte in their individual fields they established a very personal and emotional connect with all. Eminent personalities from the Capital, graced the panel of judges. The Director & Manager, Rev. Fr. Binny Issac; the Principal, Rev. Fr. Sujith Augustine; the Vice Principal, Rev. Fr. Ashok Ekka;  the Administrator, Rev. Fr. Anup Minj and Rev. Fr. Charles Lobo were all present on both the days to witness the extraordinary display of talents. The honorary Chief Guest, Rev. Fr. Sajan M George SDB, Chairman of Don Bosco Technical Institute, Okhla, New Delhi, set the mood for the fiery Fiesta with his electrifying speech on Day , which doubled up the energy as he declared the competition open.

Day 1 began on a note of high energy with the innovative Clap Dance that left the audience craving for more. The first competition to grace the stage was Mime. Silence speaks louder than words- that is the very essence of Mime and the performers lived up splendidly to the expectations. Rangoli- a unique art-form that oozes Indian-ness through the sinews of our multi-cultural motherland imprinted its indelible mark in this year’s event yet again. The intricate designs in vibrant colours exhibited the astonishing finger-skills and the incredible imagination and creativity of the contestants. Western Dance was arguably the most sought-after event of the day as it brought the house down in raptures. Expectedly, it egged the crowd into a frenzy and made them cheer frantically to the beats and the rhythm of frenzy. Each school delivered high energy performances with extremely complex moves and gave their best in different genres like jazz, contemporary and hip-hop. The Salesians, judges and the audience acknowledged and applauded the participants who pushed boundaries, delivering the best of their best. The day ended with a promise of the next with three times the fun!

What a better way to start Day 2 than with the colours, costumes and creativity of Indian Folk Dance. If one must look for Unity in Diversity- then nothing can be compared to India’s folk culture. India’s folk music and dance is unparalleled with their sheer range and scope. The Indian Folk Dance event took us all to a nostalgic ride through our age-old traditions and heritage- telling simple tales of life. Western Music was no less awaited an event! From the soothing tunes of chorale to hair-raising acapella to the frenzy of head-banging, this magical event painted an alluring canvas of senses! All the participants unveiled their extraordinary musical prowess, taking us on a melodic voyage which was perhaps only a drop in the unfathomable vastness of music. Could there ever be a more fitting postlude?

The Fiesta 2024 Champions trophy was lifted by DPS, Noida, the cynosure of all eyes, as they effortlessly bagged prestigious prizes in the various competitions.

The double-day event was theme based on the various flavours of music, complete with nostalgia, disco, Bollywood and contemporary pop. The charming comperes unleashed their interactive gift of the gab and musical talent, merrily singing their tunes into the hearts of the audience. As the mellifluous melody of the musical sojourn fluted on smoothly for two days filled with magic, marvel and magnificence, the concert of Fiesta flashed exuberance, electrifying energy and enthusiasm in the smiles of the participants and the audience.
