About Us

DON BOSCO FOR EXCELLENCE
GOOD PRACTICES IN DON BOSCO SCHOOL, ALAKNANDA

Don Bosco School, Alaknanda, New Delhi, is proud to welcome young minds from diverse communities and backgrounds. At the heart of our educational vision is a simple belief: every child deserves the opportunity to grow, to belong, to be heard and to become the very best version of themselves.

We strive to nurture students who are confident, thoughtful, sensitive and responsible, equipped not only to meet the challenges of the future but also to contribute meaningfully to the world around them. We place particular emphasis on supporting children from economically and socially disadvantaged sections through inclusive education and outreach initiative such as Ankur–Don Bosco, a school dedicated to providing quality education and a nurturing environment to underprivileged children.

Our school is built on a caring and inclusive ethos. We set high expectations and standards while ensuring that our children know that they are valued and supported. We want every student to experience school as a place where they feel safe, secure, accepted and happy—a place where they can be themselves, make mistakes, learn, grow and begin again, a second home.

Every child has the right to be safe, to be treated with compassion, and to hear and be heard. Our Discipline Policy, Child Protection Policy and our commitment to the POCSO Act reflect this responsibility. Discipline, for us, is not merely about consequences; it is about helping young people understand responsibility, respect and the impact of their choices. Alongside accountability, we consciously celebrate positive behaviour through positive reinforcements and feedback in the school diary, badges and timely appreciation.

Our Disciplinary Committee, anecdotal records, open-door communication, counselling support and the guidance of our School Counsellor and Special Educator help us respond to concerns with care, consistency and sensitivity. Teacher Coordinators at the Junior, Middle and Senior School levels ensure that the personal, scholastic and emotional needs of our students do not go unnoticed.

Educators Who Walk Beside the Young

At Don Bosco, we believe that leadership is the capacity to transform vision into reality—and our teachers are the real leaders.

They do not merely teach; they walk beside the young. They encourage, listen, challenge, empower and care. Through Don Bosco’s Preventive System of EducationReason, Religion and Loving Kindness, and through Salesian accompaniment, our educators seek to understand the world of the young and build relationships that make learning meaningful.

The dedication of our teaching and support staff is one of the school’s greatest strengths. Their continuous training and professional development help them respond with greater understanding and insight to the changing needs of our students. We also believe that those who give their best deserve to be appreciated. Initiatives that recognise and celebrate the people who quietly give so much to our school every day are a meaningful way of acknowledging their dedication and contribution.

Helping Every Child Find Their Way

We expect every student to work hard and strive for excellence. At the same time, we recognise that every child learns differently. Students who need additional support are identified and helped through remedial classes, individual attention and targeted academic support.

Our CAMPUSCARE data-tracking system, Periodic Assessments, Parent-Teacher Meetings and Report Days help teachers and parents work together to mutually understand each child’s progress and needs. Our alumni further strengthen this support through special classes and career guidance sessions.

Learning also extends far beyond textbooks. Subject enrichment activities, in-house worksheets and assessments, quizzes, crosswords, competitions and creative activities give children opportunities to discover abilities they may not have known they possessed.

A School Where Every Talent Matters

We believe that education must nurture the whole person.

Health and Physical Education contributes to the physical, mental, emotional and social well-being of our students. Daily opportunities for games, physical fitness and social service, supported by the Health and Activity Card, encourage healthy and balanced living. Yoga, breathing exercises and meditation help our children and staff manage stress, find calm and develop inner strength.

Our students are encouraged to explore their interests through the various clubs such as the NCC, School Innovation Council, Debate Club, Filmatic, Analytix, Planet Fraternity Club, Puzzlify – the Sudoku and Rubik’s Cube Club, Cultural Heritage, Literary, Quiz Clubs, Cookery Club, Book Club and Social Service Club. These clubs foster their passion and facilitate experiential learning. Our Innovation Cell provides a platform for students to turn curiosity into creativity, encouraging them to question, experiment, collaborate and develop innovative solutions to real-world challenges.

There are opportunities for everyone—from football, volleyball, cricket, basketball, badminton and table tennis to yoga, karate and dance; from our choirs and school band to traditional and folk groups. Competitions such as Dance Dil Se, Voice of Don Bosco, speech, creative writing, Sanskrit Shloka, Spelling Bee, drawing, painting and fancy dress provide children with small stages on which they learn to embrace courage, overcome hesitation and believe in themselves.

 Forming Hearts That Care

Our education does not end with the individual. We want our students to understand that they are part of something larger than themselves.

Service to the school and the wider community is an integral part of our ethos. Through fundraising campaigns, charity initiatives, tree plantation drives and relief efforts, our students learn that compassion becomes meaningful when it is translated into action.

Ankur School, ‘a journey with a purpose’, gives students of Classes IX–XII the opportunity to teach children from marginalised communities. Such experiences gently take our young people beyond the familiar and allow them to encounter lives and realities different from their own. They learn empathy, gratitude and the dignity of service—not from a textbook, but from experience.

We also place strong emphasis on gender sensitivity, social responsibility and global citizenship, helping our students grow into citizens who are conscious of the world they inherit and responsible for the world they create.

 A Place to Belong

Our prayer room remains open throughout the day for anyone who wishes to pause, reflect and spend a few quiet moments with the Almighty. It is a small but meaningful reminder that education is also about nurturing the inner life.

We want our school to be a place where children feel known, valued and cared for. A place where a child who struggles is not written off, where effort is noticed, where mistakes become opportunities to learn, and where stepping outside one’s comfort zone is made possible because someone is standing beside you.

As the saying goes, ‘Nothing ventured, nothing gained’, we want our students to have the confidence to take healthy risks, to try something new, to fail without fear and to try again. True growth often begins just beyond the boundaries of what feels comfortable.

 Ever More and Better Ever

Like every great Don Bosco institution, we too have dreams, ambitions and aspirations. And we know that dreams become realities only when people work together.

The journey of Don Bosco School, Alaknanda has never been the achievement of a few. It has been built through the faith of the Management, the dedication of our teachers and support staff, the enthusiasm of our students, the trust of our parents and the continued affection of our alumni.

We are proud of how far we have come. But we are equally excited about how much more we can become.

Perhaps the true measure of a school is not simply the milestones it achieves, but the lives it touches, the hearts it shapes and the young people it sends into the world.

And so, we continue to strive, to learn, to care and to grow…

Ever More and Better Ever.
