“Excellence is not an act, but a habit.” – Aristotle

The Senior School Recognition Day Ceremony at Don Bosco School, Alaknanda, held on 26th July 2025, was a heartfelt tribute to academic excellence, relentless efforts, and the indomitable Bosconian spirit. The event was organised to honour the achievements of students from Classes 6 to 12 in both scholastic and co-curricular domains.

The morning began with a vibrant audio-visual presentation, offering glimpses into the school’s dynamic calendar of events. The ceremony gained momentum with the academic procession, led by the school’s esteemed leaders: Rev. Fr. Binny Issac, the Rector and Manager; Rev. Fr. Sujith Augustine, the Principal; Rev. Fr. A solemn lamp-lighting ceremony followed, symbolising the pursuit of knowledge and enlightenment. Gracing the stage were the aforementioned dignitaries along with Ronit Jha, the Commerce topper; Ms. Suman Kanwar, the mother of the Science topper; and Mr. Mathew K. Thomas, the Programme Coordinator. A soulful welcome song presented by the school choir under the guidance of Ms. Geetali Dhar Chowdhury set the tone for the celebrations.

In his welcome address, Rev. Fr. Sujith Augustine encouraged students to dream with purpose and to walk the path of discipline, dedication, and compassion.

The award distribution commenced with Classes 6 and 7, who were felicitated by Rev. Fr. Sujith Augustine and Rev. Fr. Bimal Marcus, followed by a vibrant action song led by Ms. Sangita Taneja. The felicitation of Classes 8 and 9 was carried out by Rev. Fr. Sujith Augustine and Rev. Fr. Ashok Ekka.

In his address, Rev. Fr. Binny Isaac, the Rector and Manager, reminded the audience that “home is the first school, and parents are the first teachers.” He urged all to “celebrate excellence in all spheres of life,” and lauded the efforts of the teachers for their role in shaping future leaders.

Cultural performances continued with a high-energy rap under the mentorship of Ms. Karuna Makkar and Ms. Geeta Bagai, highlighting the values of resilience and determination. This was followed by the felicitation of Class 11 by Rev. Fr. Sujith Augustine and Rev. Fr. Ashok Ekka and of class 10 by Rev. Fr. Binny Issac and Rev. Fr. Sujith Augustine.

Mohammad Sarim, the Class 10 topper, delivered a powerful speech, reminding his peers that success is not just about marks, but about giving one’s best. The stage then came alive with the patriotic dance performance, Waqt Ki Kasauti, choreographed by Ms. Priyanka Kumar and Ms. Ramya Varghese, which infused the audience with energy and national pride.

The Class 12 achievers were honoured by Rev. Fr. Binny Issac and Rev. Fr. Sujith Augustine. This was accompanied by the moving speeches from the stream toppers:

  • Ronit Jha (Commerce) attributed his success to God and the Fathers at Don Bosco, affirming that “with determination, everything is possible.”

With deep gratitude, both students acknowledged the support and belief of their teachers, who helped shape their paths. A melodious performance by the school choir, under the guidance of Ms. Suparna Dey, added a musical flourish to the occasion.

The Excellence Awards were the grand highlight of the day, conferred by Rev. Fr. Binny Issac and Rev. Fr.
