TREE PLANTATION DRIVE

DON BOSCO SCHOOL, ALAKNANDA NEW DELHI GOT THE OPPORTUNITY AND INVITATION FROM THE DELHI GOVERNMENT TO PARTICIPATE IN A TREE PLANTATION DRIVE.

It was organized by the honorable Minister of Culture Mr. Saurabh Bhardwaj, presided over the event on Friday,12 July 2024 at Jahapanah City Forest ,New Delhi.

The positive response, support and guidance of our Principal Rev. Fr. Sujith Augustine motivated the students of class 8 A of Don Bosco School Alaknanda, to shoulder the responsibility  and to take initiative to protect our ecosystem and pledge to plant a sapling to make Delhi cooler. The students made the placards spreading the message to plant trees, save trees and protect our mother earth so that the capital would never experience a scorching temperature of 52 degrees celsius as it did in the year 2024. The young, energetic and enthusiastic Bosconians with their school banner reached the Jahapanah city forest at 8 AM. They walked to reach the site and also discovered the beauty of a variety of flora and fauna on the way. The honorable Minister and other dignitaries with their smiling face interacted with the students and explained to the young minds the need and importance of trees.  There were 600 students from 12 prominent schools of South Delhi who became the agents of change for sustainable future to combat climate change. Our boys planted ‘Kadamb tree’ and each one of them received a sapling each of  herbs like tulsi plant, lemon grass, curry leaves, carom seeds to plant at home as well as to spread the message in the community too. The drive concluded with the artists putting up the folk dance and music to keep the culture and heritage of India alive. The participation in the tree plantation drive by the students of Don Bosco School has been a step to carry forward the legacy of our school and live up to our motto of ‘Ever More and Better ever’.
